The 90th Anniversary of NMRA Region Picnic was held on August 30th. The celebration was held at the Lockheed Martin Employees Recreation Area, specifically Scenic Lines Modelers. Lunch was the highlight of the picnic again with the many potluck dishes complimenting the chicken and drinks.
Two announcements were made during the picnic. Gary Myers has reinstituted the Regional Challenge Cup. This will be an annual contest to see which division has the most awards from the model contest at the annual convention. This year the Pikes Peak Division had the most awards at the convention and will be holding the cup until next year.
Michelle Kempema made the announcement that the 2026 Regional Convention will be held in Rapid City and Hill City, South Dakota. This will be May 20th through the 24th with the meetings split between Rapid City and Hill City. The Hill City portion will host a railroad ride on the Black Hills Central Railroad. More detail will be forthcoming. But make plans to submit your contest models to get the Region Challenge Cup.
